Qatar Chamber Chairman inaugurates three factories for paints, cans, and intermediate chemicals


Chairman of Qatar Chamber HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani has inaugurated three new factories which are subsidiaries of the National Paints Factories Co. W.L.L. which is situated in the Small & Medium Enterprises Zone.

The new factories are a new branch of the National Paints Factories Co. for manufacturing the industrial paints, the Royal Cans Factories Co W.L.L, and the Overseas Intermediate Chemicals Factory.

Held in adherence with the precautionary measures relating to COVID-19, the inauguration ceremony was attended by HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatari Businessmen Association, Mohammed Hassan Al-Maliki, Assistant Undersecretary for Industry Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), and Saleh bin Ahmed Al-Khulaifi, Director General of the National Paints Factories Co., in addition to a number of officials, businessmen and senior managers of consulting companies, contracting companies, and national factories.

Following the opening ceremony, HE Sheikh Khalifa alongside all attendees toured the new branch of the National Paints Factories which contains new production lines, as well as Oryx Academy for Paints and Coating Technology, which is the first academy for training on modern coating and painting methods in the State of Qatar.

In a welcome note at the beginning of the ceremony, Saleh bin Ahmed Al-Khulaifi expressed his thanks to QC’s Chairman for his sponsorship of the opening of the three factories, and he also thanked all attendees for accepting the invitation and attending the opening ceremony.

Al-Kulaifi praised the considerable support offered by the State for national manufacturers and the private sector in correspondence with the Qatar National Vision 2030 which attaches national industry special importance.

He outlined the objectives of these national factories and their role in developing national industry and enhancing national products, pointing out that the first factory was established in 1987 in the Industrial Area and since that time the company has developed its work through adopting the latest technological innovations in the production of paints.

The company has provided a variety of solutions including decorative paints, industrial and protective coatings, and furniture and wood paints and others, he added.

He also said that the National Paints Factories Co. has obtain a series of ISO certificates such as ISO 9001/2000 certification, ISO certification for the environmental management system ISO 14001/2004, ISO certification for security and safety 18001: 2008, ISO certificates for the quality management system 9001: 2015, the Environmental Management System 14001: 2015, and the Security and Safety System 45001: 2018.

Al-Kulaifi noted that due to the great experience built by the National Paints Factories Company for more than 30 years, and in line with the market demands, two new brands were launched which are Robson Paints and Oryx Paints, indicating that all products, decorative paints, epoxy coatings, industrial floor coatings and wooden coatings are produced and packed in attractive containers for each of the two brands.

With regard to the Royal Cans Factories Co W.L.L, Al-Kulaifi said that it is the first of its kind in Qatar for manufacturing metal and plastic cans needed for packing products, noting that it includes a production line for producing packages of all required sizes according to the needs of other factories in the country.

He gave a detailed explanation about the third factory which is Overseas Intermediate Chemicals Factory, noting that it is specialized in manufacturing solvents.

He also pointed out that the factory includes three factories which are Pure Chem for Solvents and Chemical Factory for manufacturing of white spirit, the Modern Chemical Varnishes Factory for manufacturing of alkyd resin and polyester resin and the Rimbo Polymers & Chemicals Factory for manufacturing of emulsions and polymers.
